What is a PayID?
PayID is a smart address for payments, created by linking a financial account that you own to a recognisable and memorable piece of information that you use in everyday life – such as your phone number or email address. While the PayID can only link to one bank account at a time, accounts can have more than one PayID. A PayID can be a phone number, email address, ABN number or ‘organisation ID’ such as a company name. With PayID, users can send and receive payments with unprecedented ease, convenience and confidence.

Creating a PayID

  • Create a PayID by linking a PayID Type (mobile phone number, email address, ACN, ABN or Organisation ID. A PayID Type is a piece of memorable and recognisable information that you own and can be linked to a financial account for direct payment. When these two elements are linked you have a PayID.
  • Creation of PayID’s for Business Members using ACN, ABN or Organisation ID must be completed by one of our staff. For Business PayID’s please visit your local branch or contact us on 136191.
  • You can have more than one PayID. All you need to do is enter additional PayID’s and connect them to other financial accounts that you own. You may even have multiple PayID’s linked to one account.

Creating a PayID Name

  • A PayID Name is a name that is associated with your PayID.
  • It is used to help the payer know who they are paying, as the name reflects either the real name of the account name of the recipient.
  • When you create your PayID, you will be asked to include a PayID Name with it. The PayID Name must reasonably and accurately reflect either the financial account owners real name or the account name (for Business Members Only). It must reasonably and accurately reflect your real name.
  • Depending on the functionality of a particular PayID enable service, a PayID Name may appear before you send a payment as an additional level of confirmation that you are sending money to the right person. Make and receive payments with confidence.

Making Payments with PayID

  • In Internet Banking or Mobile App enter the recipients PayID and the amount you want to send.
  • Upon entering a PayID, the amount you want to pay and other information, a PayID enabled service may display a PayID Name as an additional confirmation that you are sending money to the right recipient. Making payments has never been so convenient.

Locking and unlocking a PayID

  • If for any reason you want to temporarily stop people from sending payments to a PayID that you own, you can request your bank to lock it. Your financial institution can temporarily stop people from sending payments to a PayID that you own. They may lock or unlock your PayID for security purposes.
  Transferring your PayID

You can transfer the use of a specific PayID to another financial account that you own. Keep in mind however, that only one financial account can be linked to a PayID at a time.

Within the same Financial Institution

  • If you hold multiple accounts with one financial institution, you can transfer your PayID to another account you own with the same institution.

To Another Financial Institution

  • If you hold a financial account with another institution and want to link a PayID that is currently in use to it, you can transfer that PayID. Contact your financial institution to unlink it from you previous account and then you can create the same PayID with you new financial institution.

Updating your details

  • You can update our PayID Name through your financial institution. The new name you choose however, should reasonably and accurately reflect your real name for consumers or your account name for business.

Closing your PayID

  • If you no longer want to use PayID or no longer own that specific PayID, you can close your PayID through your financial institution. Doing so means that you will have to undergo the process of creating a PayID once again if you want to use PayID in the future.


Register your PayID now
To register your PayID, simply log in to SCU Internet Banking and instructions on how to register your PayID will pop up on the screen. Alternatively you can navigate to the PayID registration section in the main menu under My Preferences / Manage PayID and follow the prompts from there. It’s that simple.

Please note, before you register for a PayID make sure we have your most up-to-date contact details. You can do this by logging on to your Internet Banking, selecting 'My Preferences' and 'Update Contact Details'. Alternatively you can call our Member Contact Centre on 13 61 91 and we will change the details for you.
