Transferring your foreign currency is easy

 Obtain your transfer details on the ‘Incoming Transfer Form’. Save the generated PDF. It contains all the details required to complete your transfer.
Give this document to your overseas sender. Whether this is your own bank abroad, or overseas friends or family: remind them not to convert into AUD.
The funds will be credited to your account in AUD.

When you use the Incoming Transfer Form to transfer a foreign currency into Australian Dollars between 6 November 2018 and 28th December 2018, you’ll also receive up to $100 in Gift Cards per transaction* on your first three transactions - that’s a total of up to $300!

These incentives are only rewarded when you transfer foreign currency into Australia. Local currency transfers are not included.

Why do you recommend transferring funds in foreign currencies?

Ensuring funds are transferred in a foreign currency instead of AUD helps to avoid higher transfer costs and fees.

 

Are there any fees or charges involved?

American Express does not charge a fee for receiving foreign currency. However, international transfers are sometimes subject to correspondent fees and charges by the remitting (sending) or corresponding banks, which, in turn, slightly reduces the transaction amount.

 

What exchange rate will be applied?

The exchange rate is determined on the day the funds are received and is subject to market fluctuations.

 

Why do we add payment notes saying "DO NOT CONVERT TO AUD"?

Without this payment note, your transaction may be subject to an additional currency conversion by your intermediary bank.

 

Terms and Conditions *

This incentive offer is calculated per transfer, it is not cumulative, and is limited to three transactions per person between 6th November and 28th December 2018. The transfer must be from a foreign currency into Australia in order to receive the incentive. Local currency transfers are not included.

This offer is only open to American Express Financial Institution Members/Customers who complete an Incoming Telegraphic Transfer. The remitting party of the member must complete the Incoming Telegraphic Transfer transactions of $1,000 or above from 6th November to 28th December 2018 to qualify to receive a Digital Gift Card. Complete transactions between $1,000 and $1,999 to receive a $20 Digital Gift Card, complete transactions between $2,000 and $4,999 to receive a $50 Digital Gift Card and complete transactions over $5,000 to receive a $100 Digital Gift Card. A maximum of 3 transactions per Financial Institution Member/Customer will be eligible for the Digital Gift Card.

Please allow 4 weeks for Digital Gift Cards to be forwarded to the email address listed in your account. The Digital Gift Cards are managed by our third party vendor, Edge Loyalty. SCU will issue a voucher code which the member must validate in accordance with the instructions provided, following which the member may redeem a Digital Gift Card from the list of retailers we select for participation. These currently include David Jones, Myer, Woolworths, Ticketmaster, iTunes, Coles and Rebel. Digital Gift Cards issued by Edge Loyalty are subject to the terms and conditions of Edge Loyalty and the Digital Gift Card terms and conditions of the selected retailer as set out at the time of issue. The Digital Gift Card must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if the person is unable to use the Digital Gift Card as stated. Digital Gift Cards, including any unused portion, are not replaceable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash or other goods or services or used to pay or offset any transactions with American Express FXIP. Digital Gift Card validity varies depending on the selected retailer. Please check the Digital Gift Card for expiry. The Digital Gift Card cannot be transferred to any other person.
